A big THANK YOU to everyone who fished the Cheaha Bass Club's Annual Spring Bass Bonanza on Sat. 3/17 . We had a tremendous turnout with 80 boats fishing for $3200.00 in cash prizes . The day started out cold and windy and improved very little thru the day . Temps rose a little but so did the wind . Other than the conditions most reported a pretty good day on the lake , with lots of fish being caught . Several stated they caught 30 to 40 fish , but they just couldn't get enough 16in fish .Practically blowing the field away taking home 1st place and $1000 was the father / son team of Bobby and Brett Young with 17.1 lbs . Their largest fish was 4.7 , so you can tell they had a beautiful bag of fish . 2nd place and $600 went to brothers Terry and Wayne Robbins with 13.3 lbs. which also included the tournaments Big Fish of 7.0 lbs , worth another $400 . In 3rd place was the team of Jamie Strain and Barry Yates with 10.4 lbs . Rounding out the top 10 were 4th - Wallace / Starling 10.1-Perkins/Laros 10.0-Robertson/Mason 9.5-Davis/Frazer 9.4-Shirey/Sims 9.2-McCaig/Hurst 8.9-and Williams/Williams 8.3 . Most repoted better fish came in pockets on spinnerbaits and trick worms , yet a lot of keeper fish were caught on C'rigs with lizards and worms and crankbaits are still catching quite a few fish . Wish I could give more specifics about colors , depth and so forth but these are bass fisherman and you know they won't give up trade secrets . The members of the Cheaha Bass Club would like to thank each one who participated in this event and help make it the yearly success it has come to be . We work hard to make this something that you can trust and respect and we feel that the number of repeat participants says we must be doing something right . Whether you came in 1st , last , or somewhere in between just remember the real winners will be the children that get up Christmas morning with a smile on their face and a beliefe in their hearts that there really is a Santa Clause . The big difference is that this Santa rides in a bass boat and carries a rod and reel . Thank you and Good Fishing , Jeff
