Had our first club tournament today at Goosepond colony. Bass are biting like CRAZY! Fish were caught on several different baits such as Ratltraps, centipedes, crankbaits, spinerbaits and lizards. My partner and I fish down river around Preston Island and Boshart creek. Lots of activity in 4 to 6 feet of water. Fish were very agressive and the bite was early for us. We ended up catching alot of fish but only ended up with 5 keepers. They were enough for 1st place. We ended the day with 5 fish that weighed 16 pounds. Overall a good day. Fish are moving up for pre spawn and are feeding like crazy! All fish were fat as footballs and looked very healthy. If going out, concentrate on north side of river and fish the back pockets that have 4 to 6 foot of water and grass nearby. North Saughty, Mink Creek, Mill creek, Preston Island and Snake Island are all holding fish right now. If you go out, have fun and wear those life jackets!
