Obviously you didn't actually weigh your fish. A 15.25 inch crappie won't weigh anywhere near 3 pounds. Nothing personal, but you need to get a good scale and actually weigh a few. Many people over-estimate crappie weight. Mostly because they have never actually weighed any.
Try it, you will be surprised how much you are over-estimating or "over-guess-timating" the weight of your crappie.
