I read an article in Florida Sportsman about deep water shrimp cast netters that taped duct tape on their nets all the way around just above the weights to help the net flair out flatter in the deep water. Disclaimer: they were going about 45-50 ft deep and they were catching shrimp but I always thought it would work for shad that were deep.
