I have had various results using different sizes. In muddy condidtions I like a bigger hook in a gold color. If its clear water I'll use a smaller hook in the dark blue color. I also like a smaller hook if I am still fishing straight down also when I tail hook my minnows. My father inlaw uses hooks you could probably go deep sea fishing with and still catches fish. I think minnow size and presentation are more important than your hook - just use a brand that you are comfortable with.
