I have never been there, and doubt I ever will, but I have always wondered about that stump field on the right as you go into Decatur from the north (Huntsville). You can see dry land and stumps in the summer. Today, there were several boats out there fishing. This is very similar looking water to the cove that is essentially across the road and in the WWR in Mooresville.

I have always thought these very shallow water inlets would only produce in later winter as the water warms and the spawn approaches. Am I totally lost when it comes to crappie? Do they move up into that super shallow stuff during warmer spells this time of year? I am guessing LM bass also use these areas in March-April? It seems that people were fishing a long way from the main channel today. I don't know if it is the blind leading the blind, or if it means something. Decatur has lots of water like that around.

It seems that it takes an act of nature just for the water to be deep enough to get in there, and even then, I guess you have to troll or idle with caution? Any info might satisfy my curiosity that I have been carrying around for decades.

Good luck!
