To add to what Alex said, try to get the heaviest cast net you can per linear foot. The standard is 3/4 or 1lb. per linear foot of circumference. If you can luck up and find one that is 1.5lb/ft. then all the better because it will sink much faster especially when you are talking 5ft,6ft, or more net radius.
