I crappie fish a lot. Hook the minnow up from the bottom just behing the lip and up throught the head just in front of the eyes or even in between the eyes. I know that this sounds like it will kill the minnow, but it dosn't. The minnow will live up to 20 minutes like this and the real advantage is the the little bumps from nibbling fish usually will knock the minnow off. It also keeps the minnow swimming upright while slow trolling. Try it, you'll like it.
