I agree a lot with BPrice. I've fished the lake full time for a living for 12 years. A lot of the really big fish will be staged in 6 to 10 feet of water and will be on pre-spawn by mid to late Feb. We catch many big fish over the 8-lb mark as shallow as 3 feet this time of year when conditions are mild.
There are always some big fish in deep water, but for me they are harder to catch.
Target open water humps and ledges with drops that go from 4 to 8+ feet, and areas with a combination of left over grass and stumps are better. Stumps in the area make a difference.
If it's warm, check the shallow pockets in the big creeks.
I like lipless cranks, big spinnerbaits and suspending jerkbaits in that order.
Good luck, it's a great time of year for a real monster.
