Store the motor in the down position - you don't want the hub to fill with water and then freeze and crack. That will also be better for your carbs. Other than that, I don't think outboards are all that particular about winter storage. However, maybe I have been doing it wrong for 20 years. Some people talk about removing plugs and spraying stuff in the bore... however, it will be warm enough to fish again in the next 12-15 weeks. I usually go longer than that between Memorial and Labor Days. It is just now fishing season for me to avoid the crowds, assuming mother nature does not make this a record cold/windy winter.
