I have fished Smith Lake since 1976 when I purchased a lot there. I have fished for all kinds including Crappie. The advice on jig fishing is good. I might add, you can let the wind push the boat on the right day and drift, finding them that way. My best luck has been to find a downed tree, stay off it as far as possible and fish minnows deep where the very top would be. I find it takes up to 30 min. before the first bite and then it will get better if they are there.
