crappie on smith lake

I ve been fishing smith for two years and have not got a good spot to get fish. One day they are here and the next they are gone.Yal got any tips IM thinking about troling with jigs to find and than mark the spot and fish the spot .I have had some luck doing this for bass will it work for crappie.Thanks John
