Never got over two miles from the dam. But rock creek area has more and bigger stripe this time of year. I try to keep my running as short as possible. Its nothing for me to use over 100.00 in fuel a trip. Just remember tree's that come within at least 50ft of the surface, points and the mouth of all coves and creeks. You have to make your rigs run at least 30ft deep.If you don't have leadcore, use a carolina rig with a four oz weight and a two oz jig.It also depends on your speed and line size to know how much line to let out to run 30ft. I troll 3.0 to 3.5. I used the park area that has flats free of hangups to learn how much line to let out on different umbrella rigs, and other lures in my spread. Another way is to have a buddy follow behind you using your cellphones so he can tell you how deep your rigs are running.Hope this helps.
