As Kerry has already stated, they do bend fairly easily, but they are very sharp. You do not have to set hook upon a strike, just pull back or sweep the rod. These hooks will generally do the rest.
While they do bend eaisly, I have landed a 14lb plus drum, Carp up to 6.5 lb and Bass over 4lb, even channel cat over 7lb, they will hold as long as you do not force the issue. As Kerry said when hung, a steady pull will bend the hook out so you can recover the jig. That is depending on you line. I use 4lb test and love it.
