After getting off work I stopped by the river and tried my luck in the heat. I tried the same area that I caught some weeks ago and did not get a bite. I switched to the other side and got one small one on but came off at the barge pylon. It was definitely not a keeper.
I left there and tried another area on the Arsenal. This particular area is off Patton road near the picnic area. I fished this area 20 years ago and finally found it. The skeeter bugs were so thick I did not stay long. Managed to catch one crappie that might have gone 6 inches.
I do not think I am going to try any more till fall. The heat is NOT for me.
I did see a small willow fly hatch(BAKE)going on if anybody is interested. The birds were having a feast. Good luck and wear those life jackets if you DARE to go out in this heat.
