That time of year Early morning and late evening for speckled trout on the grass flats using DOA jigs ,top water plugs and live Shrimp under a cork. Also around the coast guard station located at the west end side of east pass bridge is always good as there is a lot of grass and a deep channel running out of it.Redfish will be found under east past bridge as well as the mid-bay bridge and the jetties .Live Pinfish or larget bull moinnows if you can find them will be the ticket there.Black Snapper(Mangrove Snapper) can be caught fishing the edge of where the rocks meet the sand on both the east and west jetties.Just let your boat drift with which ever way the tide is running and fish the edge with a live bull minnow .Shrimp would work except the pinfish are like bream eating them. Also if you can find a lighted pier ,fishing at night for speckled trout is a blast using live shrimp .Just use a #4 or #6 plain shank eagle claw hook on 6 lb test and hook the shrimp so it stays alive and pitch it with no weight on it out so it will float into the light. One other option is to fish the piers over around the Ft Walton side of the bay using live croakers and pin fish under a float.Trout hang under them to keep cool .Hope this helps some. Also Outback charter service specializes in bay fishng .Finally, the local news paper there,THE Destin Log has a fishing report in it that tells what is biting and where ,or the folks in the HalfHitch tackle shop can be helpful too.Screaming drags to ya!!
