Fished the upper Elk Sunday afternoon from about 5:45 til 8:15. Tried wave worm, tubes, red hook spinnerbaits....all the latest and greatest and didn't get a bite. Finally tied on a 6" purple worm and bingo! Put 8 keeper bass 12-14" in the boat and missed about that many more. Not a record breaking day, but a nice afternoon on the water for a married with child and job and on and on. Caught all on a steep shady bank about a mile or so below hwy 99 bridge. I kept seeing nice size bream smacking the small fry....should have brought the fly rod. I havent fished there in about 5 years. "Buck Island" that you can see from the bridge is nearly gone. What was once an island about 100 yards long is now two small green spots. A few more heavy rains and all that will be left is a hump to catch lower units.
