I recently exchanged some interesting coorespondence with the Division II Alabama Fisheries folks. My question to them was concerning Striper stocking history for Guntersville Lake. They replied promptly with the following information. Stripers were stocked in the 1974, 75, and 77 timeframe. None since. It was determined that the main benefit of stocking the lake was up below Nickajack. Therefore, Alabama was stocking Tennessee's fishing. Once that was determined stocking was discontinued. Tennessee is stocking some below Nickajack and fish occuring on this end of the lake are the results of that and probable natural reproduction that is evident below Nickajack.
