Finished up at work a little early and went to the river during the much needed rain! Fished the NASA docks and concentrated on the points out on the main river channel. Fished a 1/16 oz unpainted jig head and a white crappie slider. Started catching a few small white stripes and BINGO, the line jumped and I knew what it was! Set the hook on a nice keeper black crappie. Thought is was a fluke and cast to the same spot again. It got down about 15 feet and BINGO, line jumped! Another black crappie and it was a small keeper. Ended up catching 9 and 4 of them were nice 3/4 lb crappie. released them all and enjoyed the fact that I caught some crappie in the summer heat. Did not take water temp! But I can tell you it's HOT! Used 4 lb test, tight lining. Good luck to everyone and wear your life jackets.
