It can depend on the location, for instance I was on Miller's Ferry lake near Selma last week and found a small hatch. One year I found a hatch as late as August over on Pickwick near Waterloo. Normally for the H'ville area it depends, but sometime in June to early July (I can remember a 4th celebration one year where the fireworks at Lucy's Branch werent as impressive as a massive hatch that rolled across the lake shore like a fog.)

Of course people will undoubtedly mention the hatch on here or WMI when it happens.

You are correct that lure wise, fly poppers are great. Never tried crickets but they sure should work.

The great thing about the hatch is that it will also attract some bass and even catfish from time to time.
