Not surprising at all. Some of the best catches occur during rain and snow showers. It's miserable for the fisherman, but some forget that the fish are already wet! The low pressure that accompaines strorms and pre-fronts triggers the action.
It's a natural instinct for fish to search for easy meals during a rain, as it washes prey items into the water. Like a buffet line at Shoney's breakfast bar! I have slaughtered the bass several times fishing a worm or topwater right against the bank during and immediately following a good shower.
