Thanks to both Allen and JD for the valuable comments. As i've never spent much time in an aluminum hull, I really didn't know most of what you guys said. I understand the pad vs. flatbottom aspect, but somehow assumed that the 20' length of that monster in addition to the mod-vee hull might somehow be acceptable. You guys are telling me to get ready to get beat-up when taking the beast down the river, I think. That's a good response. I would have been unprepared for that.
Here's another thing: Cleanliness. I want to leave the boat under trees...out in the weather. I want a boat that I can quickly shovel free of leaves and hose-out the gunk. Don't want leaves or pine straw getting into the bilge..at all. None. Looks like I'm simply going to have to fabricate my own rear deck design. Sea Ark doesn't make anything that will keep the crap out of the bilge, and I don't want to fool with a cover.
