Beam/shellcracker beds(and bass for that matter)
are fairly easy to spot if the water is shallow enough or clear enough. Just look for groups of
saucer-to-dinnerplate-size spots on the bottom that appear lighter than the surrounding bottom.
Usually bream and shellcracker beds will be in clusters together, while bass beds(larger in size)
will be more isolated.
In most cases, you will spot beds near objects,
such as a stump, log, pier piling etc. Not always,
but typically. Bass also often fan their nest in the middle of weedbeds, making them real easy to spot.
Hope this helps.
