Buy the part and put it in yourself or call James Allred (Decatur, Tambourine Ln). Did you check with Ernie at Anderson's? If you take the boat up there and pester him while he's in the shop he may do it for you. Have the prop taken off before you get there (in case it's stuck). The outer seal is not too big a deal to replace. Yes, you can probably run it short distances without causing damage if you drain lower unit and flush it after use. I have done that before when i got fishing line behind the prop and broke the seal. I made several trips before I fixed it; the mechanics probably won't recommend that option, though.
