Our bass club just returned from a week on the Big G. for black bass. The bite was slow Sunday through Tuesday. Most of our fish came from the rip rap near bridges and causeways. The weather was somewhat stable although the winds changed day to day from NW to NE to SE to SW on Thursday.
By Thursday the majority of the fish had moved into the old weed lines in the backs of the creeks. I fished in North Town Creek near the Bellforte power plant Wednesday with one keeper bass and Thursday with 6 keepers the big on was a little over 4lbs. Rattle traps were the bait of choice on the weed lines but the big one came on a crawdad Bandit 200 on the leeward side of the causeway. If the weather holds for you and the water warms above 60 you should hang on to your rod. The bigest bag of fish over 15lbs came out of Waterfront south of North Sauty creek. Good luck and I hope you read this before you leave.
