I've had both the Triton 1650 SC and the G3 1756. The Triton had a 50 hp Johnson and the G3 has a 40 hp Yamaha. Both are well made boats. The 6 in. difference in width makes all the difference in the world when riding (The G3 is alot easier on the old lower back). Also, the 10 hp difference in the two motors really isn't a difference and the Yamaha is much easier on gas. Both motors are 2 strokes and would push each boat between 30-35 mph. I can't say that its like this across the board, but I found the G3 to be an all around better buy for someone looking to go fishing rather than riding.
