Since you are in the Childersburg area, you are in a great area of Lay Lake for some good bass fishing. Look for the small inlets and sloughs just off of the main river. There are several in the area of the Highway 280 bridge.
Pull just into the mouth of these sloughs and inlets and face the boat upstream. Cast towards the points in the mouths of these sloughs with small baits such as a 1/8 oz. lead head jig with a 2 1/2 to 3" Sassy Shad. Let the jig fall slowly down into the deeper channel at the mouth of these sloughs and feel for a very slight bump on the line, set the hook. Bass are schooled up in these sloughs this time of the year and can be very productive fishing. Good Luck.
