I have found that three things are critical for Flatheads... Wood, Current, and LIVELY Bait. I always use live 4 - 6 inch bream. Find a good area that might hold a flathead, anchor, Rig your rod with a three-way swivel rig, and cast into the area. Feel your bream moving. When the bream starts to panic and goes erratic, I promise you something is about to hit it, and its probably a big flathead. Just email me if you want more details.

Also, they are the only golden-brown species, and they have a distinct flat, shovel like head.
