Most people will not see a white crappie for 3 reasons IMO (grin)A.if they catch one in the spring it is going to be black looking due to the mating colors ,so unless you know how they look vs a black when not in spawn colors, most of us wouldnt know it if we caught one, B the white crappie is a timber and deep water lover except to spawn, they love to suspend over drop offs at least when there were big numbers of them they did, they arent concrete dwellers like the current healthy population of black crappie in Gville so it would be a fluke to catch one fishing the bridges and C the biggest reason IMO again (grin) is that they are almost gone from the big G.Those of us 50 and older who fished the Gville in the late 50s and 60s never saw a black crappie unless we went to Weiss lake. They were all whites and would cover up any stump bed or tree top .But then IMP the mill foil arrived and grew over their spawn areas that had their stumps and sandy bottoms and they never adapted to it.Also in this time fram there were 2 major floods during the spring spawn and 3 or 4 years of drought causing low water levels in the 70s.The few black crappie on the other hand thrived in it and replaced them over a 20 year period.Ok ill get of my stump for now (grin)
