I was wandering if anyone has caught a spoon bill fish out of the Tennessee river system lately.. I know they are also called a paddle nose fish or a shovel bill catfish.. When I was a boy I can remember my dad setting out a trotline and baiting it with chiken liver, shrimp and ivory soap( I would not have believed ivory soap myself)..We caught a variety of fish on it including the elusive "shovel bill" catfish..I have not seen any caught in a long time.. I know the Alabama sturgeon is illegal to keep if one is caught.. Is it true for the shovel bill ?? Seems like I can remember the shovel bill also has a cartilage type of backbone when we cleaned them.. Good Fishing to All....... Louis T.
