Not to be a smart-mouth, but I don't usually wear my seatbelt in the car until I see the law. However, this time of year, I would not be caught without a life jacket. My life jacket and boat have about an inch of dust!
The TN River is about to become a dangerous place for the next 6 months, but 'tis the season to commence catchin' for the cold water species. I have put out on a dry ramp before, only to come back to a ramp covered with ice.
The discussion about gloves previously made me recall that there is no escape from mother nature. Neoprene gloves are not a miracle and seem to suck heat out of your hands when handling minnows and sitting against a cold, shaded, concrete dam in the wind. I hope to cash in soon on one of those memorable early December days of drizzle from a warmer south wind when 'jack salmon' are the order of the day. However, cold weather may be the only order of the day this quickly ending Fall!?!
