I haven't tried it but there are many factors that effect gas mileage. One huge factor is wind resistance...especially on a full size truck. You drop the speed from 65 or 70 to 50 mph and there is a huge drop on the "brick wall effect" on gas mileage. One of the other factors is rpm. The lower the rpm the better gas mileage you'll get. If the f150 had a towing package it would have a higher numerical gear ratio causing higher rpm's at highway speeds. That kills gas mileage also. Just some things to think about. I do however...have no doubt that you would get a great increase in mileage.
