I finally got on my keyboard and found some data which supports my 50 mph driving to save gas. The part of the study I focused on was the graph. Notice that the actual peak of fuel economy in that graph is from about 48 to 53 mph.
I am sure this will vary somewhat depending on the vehicle and its coefficient of drag, but I am sure the range will still be very close to 50 mph for maximum economy. As I said before, your increase in mpg using these techniques will vary depending on your present driving habits. Not everyone will get the 40%+/- increase I got or the 80%+/- increase Alex saw, but most people will see significant improvement. More aggressive dirvers will probably see the largest improvement by slowing down, anticipating stops, accelerating slowly and smoothly, etc.
Just thought I'd pass along the link and graph for further incentive to save gas! (grin)
Good luck and good fishin'
You could use some of the $$ you save to donate to the NAFF.
Maybe then I could afford to go fishing too!
See, this message is fishing related. LOL!
