that may be so I have spent most of my life bass fishing and have fished several lakes mostly on the TN. river and Coosa but have only fished the tail race below Guntersville except for one time I fished below Wheeler. The top water bite starts as early as the end of may or the first of June (yes I was shocked to learn this)long before the water temp reached 80. I was in at cooley gro about two days ago and the report from the group that fishes early that there were more hitting top on that one morning than they had ever seen and they fish alot and have been fishing for several years. Alot depends on how they run the water for the last couple days they have been running water at a constant speed and a few fish are being caught if they will turn the water off at midnight and back on at day light they will be in there like bait fish. Call down at tony cooleys on a saturday and ask to speak to joel he usually hang around the store on week ends he fishes top water in the mornings and evenings seven days a week. I dont know about other tail race water but you may have found that HONEY HOLE?
