You might be able to catch some Shad below Wheeler.
I assume it is permitted to take shad from the Tennessee River to fish with on Smith ??
The issue will be how to keep them alive for transport to Smith You certainly will need
an aerated live well but it will be hard to
still keep them alive during the trip. Also the water between below wheeler and in smith is significantly different and it may kill them on
contact when you use them Smith.
I would use bass shiners, that should be able to be purchased somewhere local around Smith. Again, keeping them alive will be the key.
Remember if you put ice in a live well system make sure the ice in a container and does not come in direct contact with the circulating water of the aerator system. Also, there are additives that can be used to slow the metobolism and keep them alive longer.
I doubt Bream will work but maybe they will.
