If you want to catch them it will probably take live bait.The best at this time of year would be a live salamander or mud puppy as we use to call them or spring lizards .The yellow gold ones are best and usually found under wet leaves or old wood in the deep woods near the streams.I know sounds like a lot of work but if you can find a few ,take one and using only a hook on your line hook it either thru the lip or the tail and pitch it so the water will take it to the suspended bass and hang on.If you cant find any of them the second choice would be to use as big a night crawler as you can find and hook it the same way,using a hook and no sinker thru the big end.I havent fished this way since i was a kid but that is how we always could get those fish you could see to bite !!! good luck
