In my explorations of the area, I've been checking out small streams partly looking for kayaking waters & partly just lookin'. I've noticed LM's holding in the fast water at the tail-out end of pools. They're like trout, but I found them to be uncatchable. Any reasons? Are they just spooky in that clear, shallow water situation where they've probably seen me? Some of the fish are OK size too.
When is the best time to fish the small streams in the area? Do the bass keep moving upstream through the summer? Or do they stay in the deeps of the main lake. So far, I've ID'd Limestone Ck, Piney Ck (nr Mooresville) & the Flint R as potential kayak fishing creeks - can anyone suggest other streams? What about the Elk R ? I just checked it out around the Elk R Mills area coupla wks ago - looked good. Whats it like further upstream?
Thanks for your help.
