Hit the Flint Friday. Got on the water around 5 with a few buddies, our plan was to stay all night catfishing. Current was being pulled strong from 5-8 p.m., when then the Creek began to fill back up until around midnight. Humidity was high, but it was overcast and start at 91 degrees, falling to 69 by 3 a.m. There was baitfish everywhere, and would congregate at our boat, would of been easy pickin's with a cast net. We used small rooster tails to locate bream for Catfish bait, and then would switch to nightcrawler chunks (walmart was out of RW).
Doing this we caught:
6 large 'Gills
5-10 small(bait sized) 'Gills
4 White Bass (roostertail)
2 Spotted Bass
1 Largemouth Bass
2 small Channel Cats
As night began to fall we headed to the bridge to Catfish, nothing. Went downriver and fished blowdowns near the channel with live bream, and landed two 10 lb blue cats, and a 4 ft Longnose Gar..all large fish were released, even the gar. I have great picks of the gar and some of the cats, email me if you'd like to see them.
Good luck fishing this week, and have a safe 4th of July.
