Kerry is right on-if they are generating, then all it takes is a 15mph or more west wind to be very very rough whitecaps. If we have a strong front with 20mph+ west winds, then it becomes almost unfishable (VERY DANGEROUS) in the tailrace. You can still fish all the way up inside the towers where the current keeps the waves down, but the corner coming out is extremely dangerous and it is difficult to get back to the launch. If the winds are going to be strong, you might want to go up in one of the big creeks on wheeler (first or second or elk river) or go down to shoals on wilson.
