While it is tempting to go for an instant fix and stock a pond with all mature fish, i would advise your friend against it and to contact his county agent and get his advice as he will be setting himself up fo a bad imbalance of fish( very few big fish and a lot of stunted ones). If I put any mature fish in it at all it would be Blue gill and shell cracker so they could spawn at least once and then add your other fish this fall. The pond needs to have a sustainable population of bait or fry for the stocked (Bass Bluegill Catfish) fish to eat.Maybe the pond is old or already established but Id advise against putting any Crappie in it unless its got a lot of acres as over population will occur resulting in a lot of dinks with huge eyes and small bodies unless hes gonna feed them tons of minnows a month,Anyway this is my biological 2 cents worth and if the pond stocking doesnt work in a few years he can always use Retenone and start over !!
