Do you believe that an artificial bait with crawfish scent applied to it would work?

Also, do the freshwater eels attach themselves to fish? I caught a Rainbow Trout below the Smith Lake Dam with something that I can only describe as an eel attached to its side or underbelly with what looked to be a "sucker" type mouth. It was as thin as a #2 pencil and about 8 inches long with a tan/mud color.

I didn't even know freshwater eels existed in our waters. What did you do with yours when you caught them? Did you eat them? How big do they get?

P.S. They don't get much more snakey than the Sipsey in the middle of Bankhead. Saw 3 water moccassins in 1 hour along with all sorts of other non-poisonous water snakes. They were out Sunday.
