Is this a quiz? I've always heard "shellcracker" referred to that species penchant for eating mollusks and mussels, that is meat with a shell around it. I think Bream were named in honor of Sid Bream, the former Atlanta Braves 1st baseman who scored the winning run in game 7 of the 1989 NLCS to get the Braves into the World Series. Not.
