Although I haven't been out in a boat in quite a while, my experience with the bream/shellcracker from the bank around Decatur has been VERY slow since the cold nights. Alex made a trip to Guntersville, the Honeycomb area this past thursday (I think) with his father and told me not only did he not catch anything, they didn't even get a hit. This is very unusual for Alex.
So, I would definitely say the cold snap has moved many of the bedding shellcrackers and bream off of their beds. Who knows what the impending, possibly severe, weather due in tonight will do to them.
One good thing is that the bream fishing is definitely not over. We just need warmer weather and SUNSHINE to return and warm the shallows back up. Not sure if the big shellcrackers will come back in, but the big bluegill definitely haven't finished!
Good luck and good fishin'
