I have found that tweeking methods is the only way to produce bigger fish. What I mean is try different hook sizes, minnow sizes, jig sizes etc. The more fish you catch, the more you can identify a pattern. I have caught many large crappie during the winter simply by changing to a smaller minnow. I have also caught dink size crappie when I pull certain sizes of twister tail grubs only to catch bigger ones when I moved to a 31/2 in grub. Try some of these things and hopefully they will help.
