let me start by saying this...most crappie fisherman have no idea what their fish really weigh.
few bring scales with them. but i guess that's fishing.
a 7 year old little girl managed a 3+ lb crappie with a minnow under a cork. story was printed in the advertiser gleam.
this year from the bank...i managed many limits with light line slow swimming jigs with either 32nd oz or 16th oz jig heads...of course depending on the conditions and the fish. the majority of these fish went 3/4 lb to over 2 1b. not many dinks this year. I did catch more 2lb crappe this year than i have in a long time. what did i do differently? nothing really. maybe it's my subtle wrist...but i dunno.
i caught quite a few nice fish with minnows under bridges and overpass' as well.
try different locations...try different baits...try different techniques...you never know. the only thing i DO know...is when you find em...you can catch a lot of fish therefore increasing you chances for that monster.
