I used to put out x-mas trees and the like, but if you read the article the recommended trees are hard woods and fruit trees. I have to admit that I have caught many more crappie off of those types of structure than I have ever caught off of "christmas trees". I think the article is correct that hard wood and fruit trees last a LOT longer and, if placed properly, will stay in an area longer and not be as prone to collecting silt; which is a BIG problem on Wheeler.

If anyone does get your trees for structure, make sure to tell them to burn off the green or brown foliage before placing them, especially on Wheeler, as the silt will cover them within a couple of years and make them useless.
