I was on Wilson lake Sunday afternoon searching in vain for shad. In the mouth of Town Creek, a herd of cormorants and pellicans flew in from the North. We got close enough to confirm that they were very large white pellicans. I looked them up and found that they are not uncommon; they must be migrating from the gulf to the midwest or vice versa. They didn't find any shad either. We managed to get some large shad above the dam, but there were no hungry fish in the tailrace. Not much of a report, but that was the first time I had seen a pellican on the river.
