I for one believe that crappie are roamers. I have fished several lakes for them at different times of the year. I find they like to travel along creek channels relating to any structure along the way. When they are more active I think that like most predators, they follow the baitfish. I say this because I have caught fish every year enroute to spawing grounds as well as post spawn fish and late winter fish in deep water haunts away from these shallow water places. As for great distances I can't say. However the fish that I think are of the same general school are caught in areas out from a major feeder creek that is roughly five miles long.
