I spent the weekend scouting smith lake for flathead catfish hangouts. The water is very low so I was looking for bluff walls with holes or pockets in them. We were in the smith lake park area and to the east of there. A couple of questions I have though.
Are there good numbers of flatheads in smith lake?
I am planning of using bream and goldfish for bait.
I was thinking of startng for them in april. Is this to soon or to late?
Being such a deep lake what depth should I try?
I have caught channel cats off our dock before without much effort, but not consistently. I have also caught plenty of 30+ pound carp off our dock there. What a great fight.
Well anyway, any help on times and areas would be great.
