I suggest fishing the last hour of light and the first couple after dark w/ a lantern. Seems like they will hit right at sunset then shut down for awhile. Be patient and the bites will return. I fish using slip floats with tuffies set about 3ft down. I also like to tail hook my minnows - I think they struggle more which triggers bites. I like weedlines next to deeper water which Guntersville has plenty of. Most of the crowds of crappie anglers you will see are at bridges which are not bad spots because I find that I catch more numbers in these areas but the fish are usually smaller. In those situations I like to move around the area a little - sometimes you get lucky and find a weed edge or some stumps. As for size of fish the Big G has been good for me over the past couple of years - most fish seem to easily measure with several weighing in around the 2lb mark. Hope this helps- good luck.
